Booth Unveiled As New BDO MC
Paul Booth has been unveiled as the first name in a major officials shake up within the BDO.
Booth will replace Richard Ashdown, who recently tendered his resignation, as Master of Ceremonies for all major BDO events. The Blackburn man will make a home debut at the end of the month, with the King Georges’ Hall hosting the World Trophy at the end of the month in his home town.
Booth has expertise on the darts exhibition circuit for a number of years, and has also MC’d in boxing and athletics.
“I am absolutely delighted to be offered and accept the role as MC with the BDO, said Booth.
“After meeting with the Chairman, I’m over the moon to be part of the exciting times ahead.
“I’m looking forward to working alongside a number of players with whom I’ve become friends over the years and announcing the talent to the stage within the BDO.”
The move is the first of what BDO Chairman, Des Jacklin, advised would be six appointments, and Jacklin even suggested two “household PDC names” were among those being considered in the new officials line up.
Ashdown’s departure from the BDO started a domino effect, with respected officials, Anthony Dundas, Nick Rolls, Marco Meijer and Charlie Corstorphine all departing within a 24 hour period.
