BoyleSports World Grand Prix Draw – MVG Begins Against Hughes, Cross Draws Suljovic

The BoyleSports World Grand Prix draw was made on Friday, and the unique double start format has thrown up several interesting first round ties. The event at the Citywest Convention centre in Dublin runs from October 6-12.

The opening round in the Emerald Isle usually throws up several upsets, with the tournament beginning on a first to two set basis.

Defending Champion, Michael van Gerwen, opens his defence of the title with an intriguing tie against one of the players of the season in Tipton’s Jamie Hughes, the current Czech Darts Open Champion.

With there being only eight seeds for the event, reigning World Matchplay Champion Rob Cross, seeded two, opens his campaign against Mensur Suljovic in a cracking tie.

Michael Smith has a tough first assignment against Simon Whitlock, while Gerwyn Price will meet Dave Chisnall in another stand out tie.

Debutants, Glenn Durrant and Krzysztof Ratajski meet in round one, while non seeds, but top 16 players, Ian White and Joe Cullen, have been drawn against each other.
