Evans claims the spoils on Day Two of Icons of Darts Phase Four with clean sweep

David Evans claimed the spoils on Day Two of Phase Four in the Modus Icons of Darts Live League as he completed a clean sweep on Tuesday afternoon.

Evans became the only player to claim titles in all four phases of the remotely contested initiative thus far, clinching five wins from five matches in an unbeaten campaign.

The BDO World Championship quarter-finalist opened his bid with checkouts of 108 and 121 in battling back from behind to see off Thursday’s winner Mike Warburton.

Evans then added to his ton-plus checkout haul with a mesmerising 128 outshot on double four en route to convincingly overcoming former world champion Scott Mitchell.

He subsequently recorded a scintillating 105.21 average and a 56 per cent checkout efficiency in thrashing Andy Jenkins to the loss of a mere solitary leg, before narrowly edging past PDC Challenge Tour event winner Ritchie Edhouse.

Both players registered averages in excess of the 95 mark, and executed a ton-plus checkout apiece, with a mesmerising 161 outshot from Edhouse being a highlight in a closely contested affair.

Evans then produced a finishing masterclass, converting five of his six attempts on the outer ring in a comfortable 5-1 victory over former world champion Mark Webster.

The Tyldesley-based ace averaged 97.62 and fired home three maximums, despite having already secured top spot and his ninth crown since the inception of daily titles.

Elsewhere, Jenkins finished second best with three victories to his name, while below him Edhouse, Webster and Warburton were separated by only leg difference after each managing a brace of wins.

Mitchell, who has claimed three titles since the daily honours were brought into fruition, endured a bottom place finish after succumbing to four successive defeats.

Phase Four of the Modus Icons of Darts Live League resumes on Wednesday morning as Monday’s winner Keane Barry headlines the field in search of a fourth consecutive crown.
