Japanese ace Asada confirms Qualifying School entry
Five-time Japan Open champion, Seigo Asada, has confirmed his entry to January’s Qualifying School at the Robin Park Leisure Centre in Wigan.
The gruelling four-day long event will see hundreds of throwers – of any level – flock inside the Wigan sports centre, hoping to secure a coveted two-year PDC tour card.
Asada, who has lifted six PDC Asian Tour titles since its establishment at the frontend of last year, announced his Q-School intentions via social media just weeks prior to taking to the World Darts Championship stage at Alexandra Palace in December.
‘The Ninja’ had previously told dartsplanet.tv during the 2019 World Darts Championship that he was eager to attend Q-School at some stage in his career, though, the promotion of darts in Japan and Asia specifically were more important to him.
“There are many tournaments every week in Japan, I am very busy,” said Asada in December of last year. “However I really want to go to Q-School, so I would like to participate in the future. Asian darts tournaments and promotion is still key, but I will do my best to be able to challenge Europe!”
Asada will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of his compatriot Haruki Muramatsu – who won through at Qualifying School nearly five years ago, but opted to play a minimal amount of events.
The Osaka-based ace will currently be preparing to travel to London for the William Hill World Darts Championship, commencing in mid-December.
