Quintet secure double European Tour qualification

James Wilson, Andy Boulton and Justin Pipe were amongst the five to seal a double European Tour qualification on Friday evening in Wigan while Adrian Lewis qualified for the event in Hildesheim.

James Wilson, Justin Pipe, Andy Boulton, Darren Johnson and Robert Thornton sealed qualification for both the European Tour events in Hamburg and Hildesheim.

The three-day darting weekend in Wigan began with the qualifiers for the European Darts Matchplay in Hamburg towards the end of the month.

Rising-star and 2017 Development Tour winner Luke Humphries was amongst the qualifiers in Wigan as he saw off Steve West and Scott Taylor while Chris Dobey enjoyed wins over Matthew Edgar and Arron Monk en route to earning qualification for the ninth European Tour event of the year in Hamburg.

Challenge Tour table-topper Michael Barnard qualified for another European Tour event as he continues to rise up the ProTour Order of Merit following an outstanding start to the year.

Adrian Lewis, Steve Beaton and Kyle Anderson were the known names amongst the qualifiers for the tenth European Tour event of the year while Terry Jenkins will return to the European Tour after making just one appearance on the circuit since 2016.

Jenkins, who is a former European Championship finalist, enjoyed wins over Dave Prins, Terry Temple and Eddie Dootson en route to Hildesheim while Adrian Lewis, a finalist a last weekend’s Gibraltar Darts Trophy, saw off James Richardson and Jamie Bain as he qualified for the tenth European Tour event of the year.

Lewis converted six of his 11 attempts at double and hit a 103.3 three-dart average as he convincingly beat Rushdon-based Richardson 6-3.

The European Darts Matchplay (ET9) will be held from June 29-July 1 in Hamburg.

The German Darts Championship (ET10) will be held from August 31-September 2 in Hildesheim.
