Remote Darts League: Richardson remains undefeated as Hogan progresses despite nightmare night
James Richardson and Paul Hogan will lock horns in the second Remote Darts League semi-finals in a repeat of their final clash in the inaugural edition after progressing to Monday’s Play-Offs.
Both Richardson and Hogan have formed a rivalry since the inception of the Remote Darts League, though, Hogan’s campaign derailed towards the latter stages, meaning the pair will clash in the last four.
Northamptonshire’s Richardson enjoyed three wins from three on Night 20 of the tournament, with his arch-rival Hogan enduring a winless evening despite progressing.
A 105.82 average and four maximums kick-started Richardson’s invincible evening as he thrashed BDO World Championship runner-up Jim Williams.
‘Ruthless’ Richardson registered winning legs of 15, 15, 12, 15, 12 and 14 darts in an irresistible display – which saw Williams claim only two legs and the Welshman’s play-off hopes suffer a major blow.
The four-time World Championship qualifier then claimed back-to-back 6-2 victories over Tony O’Shea and Hogan, recording averages of around the 90 mark in the process of securing top spot by a considerable distance.
Elsewhere, Williams failed to reach the Play-Offs after managing just a solitary victory on Sunday evening, while Hogan endured three successive defeats despite qualifying.
Three-time BDO World Championship runner-up O’Shea collected four points in spite of already being eliminated prior to the culminating evening of action taking place.
The esteemed veteran pinned checkouts of 101 and 131 in overcoming both Hogan and Williams to the loss of a mere six legs.
The Remote Darts League concludes on Monday evening as the Play-Offs take place with Richardson and Hogan joining world master John O’Shea and former Dutch Open champion Richard Veenstra.
