Scottish Open Draw: Sherrock, world champion Warren, Williams and Hankey among those involved

Fallon Sherrock will begin her campaign against either Tara Deamer or Gemma Kerr as she continues her roadshow, with the Scottish Open taking place at the Normandy Cosmopolitan Hotel in Renfrew.

Sherrock, who made history in becoming the first woman to compete in the Unibet Premier League on Thursday, will be looking to win the Scottish Open for the first time in three years.

The 25-year-old has reached the final in five of her last seven appearances at the Scottish Open, narrowly missing out in four of them, and could potentially face her good friend Corrine Hammond in this year’s quarter-finals.

Laura Turner provided commentary on Sherrock’s history-making match on Thursday and she returns to the oche in Scotland, facing Grace Crane in the first round, while Lorraine Winstanley, Anastasia Dobromyslova, Deta Hedman and Beau Greaves are also amongst the notable women involved.

Meanwhile, newly-crowned BDO world champion Wayne Warren will take on either Andrew Carmichael or Gavin Lewis in his opening round clash, while Jim Williams – the man who Warren defeated to lift his maiden world title – will lock horns with either Taro Momma or Tony Taylor.

Two-time world champion Ted Hankey continues his comeback spell as he takes to the Scottish Open stage once again, facing James Greig. Surprisingly, the tournament has alluded ‘The Count’, with it being one of the few long-standing BDO-ranked titles he hasn’t lifted.

Paul Hogan, a Scottish Open quarter-finalist 12 months ago, contends with either Robert McTavish or James Murphy in round one, while another previous quarter-finalist in Mark Barilli takes on John McCarrey or Paul Higgins.

2011 and 2014 champion Robbie Green faces Darren Armstrong, as Dean Winstanley takes on Owen Alexander and 2017 winner Cameron Menzies hopes to overcome Archie Holmes.

Newly-crowned Dutch Open champion Ross Montgomery sets his sights on claiming a fourth BDO-ranked title in as many months, commencing his campaign in Renfrew against Kevin McAfee or Steven McGowan.

Defending champions Wesley Harms and Lisa Ashton will not be present at the Normandy Cosmopolitan Hotel, following the success of both at PDC Qualifying School last month.
