Sherrock withdraws from BDO World Championship as prize fund is slashed

Fallon Sherrock has opted to withdraw from the upcoming BDO World Championship after the prize fund was slashed.

Sherrock, who made history this month in reaching the third round of the William Hill World Darts Championship, was due to take on Corrine Hammond in the first round of the historic tournament.

Her decision comes as a result of the BDO announcing a reduced prize fund, and one that came into affect due to the majority of the tickets remaining unsold.

Sherrock was a runner-up at the 2015 BDO World Championship at the Lakeside, losing out to Lisa Ashton in the final.

The Queen of the Palace now sets her sights on winning a PDC tour card at Qualifying School on January 16, before travelling around the world as part of the PDC World Series of Darts.
