Updated PDC Order of Merit Rankings

The PDC Order of Merit has been updated after the latest ranking event – the World Matchplay.

Most notably St Helen’s darting superstar Michael Smith has moved into the top four after his run to the final; where he lost out to former world champion Rob Cross.  Smith is only seven thousand or so behind the 3rd position in the rankings where Daryl Gurney resides. The next few events could change this spot, dependant on the results of both players.

Rob Cross remains in the number two spot but a bit closer to number one Michael Van Gerwen. But with the Grand Prix, Grand Slam, Players Championship and the World Championship upcoming he has some amount of money to defend and unless he goes very deep at Ally Pally he will be losing money accrued in 2017/18.

Peter Wright is at number 6 in the rankings, and with a good Matchplay under his belt (even though he got beat in the quarters) is back in the groove and may start his climb back up in the coming months.

Middlesboro talisman Glen Durrant is up to number 44 after his assault at the PDC World Matchplay and is slowly climbing up the rankings – it’s so amazing to see his rise in the short 7 months he has been in the PDC.

Dutch legend Raymond van Barneveld is down to 35th in the ranking and PDC newcomer Jamie Hughes has crept into the top 64 and resides at 63rd – I expect him to rise further.

Ian ‘Diamond’ White is number 10 in the rankings – a superb achievement for the Diamond, now I would like him to push on for the top 8 and make it very hard for the selectors to not pick him for the Premier League. He is just on the cusp of a deep major run and really he beat himself at the Matchplay – luck played its part in the match with Bunting. Hopefully it turns around for the Diamond and he gets it going his way next time.

The dreaded number 16 spot goes to Darren Webster, which means he is usually paired up with world number 1 in the majors – MVG. But no better man to stand up to Michael Van Gerwen. I have no doubt that Darren will get one over MVG sooner rather than later.
