US Darts Masters 2019 Draw

The draw has been done and released for the US Darts Masters. This is the first of the World Series events and we can’t wait to see it kick off in style in the searing heat of Las Vegas.

The biggest draw of the first round is current PDC World Champion Michael Van Gerwen taking on Darin Young. Darin Young has been on the CDC, ADO and BDO, PDC circuits for quite a while is very experienced. If he can take his limited chances he will be afforded by MVG then who knows. It’s hard to see past MVG in any tournament, but has he lost his invincibility?

The winner of that match will take on St Helen’s star Michael Smith or Jim Long. Michael Smith is such a talented player, runner up at the PDC World Championship, Premier League and World Series of Darts finals. Eventually he will win a major I have no doubt – could this be a win for The Bully Boy?

Last years winner Gary Anderson will face Elliot Milk who was the final player to win outright in the qualifiers. Elliot Milk is not a name many will have heard of and these are the kind of players that the World Series is put on for – to drive new names and inspire new players to compete at the top. Gary Anderson won’t be taking Milk lightly and will have to kick straight in. A fully firing Anderson wins this, but we know that apart from the World Cup, Anderson is only back on the circuit – will he have a stiff back from the transatlantic travel – who knows? Can’t wait to see Elliot Milk in this one!

If Gerwyn Price can get past Gary Mawson then he could potentially face Gary Anderson (if he gets past Milk)…A rematch of sorts from their ill fated affair at the Grand Slam of Darts last year. Price hit a 9 darter at the Czech Open last weekend, and is playing some stuff – so I expect him to get past Mawson in this one.

2018 World Champion Rob Cross has one of the harder ties, he is set to face off against Leonard ‘Soldier’ Gates. Gates making his World Series debut is a man not to mess about with, he has won many ADO, CDC and Soft Tip tournaments and could shock Cross in this one.

If Cross manages to get over the line against Gates, he will face World Series first timers Nathan Aspinall or Shawn Brenneman. Who knows what Aspinall turns up, if the one from the UK Open turns up then I expect a win for The Asp, if not Brenneman could pull off a win.

Daryl Gurney has a tricky tie against Daniel Baggish. Daniel Baggish played some great games over the qualifiers and had a pretty high average 90+ in nearly all his games. If Gurney is off his game here Baggish could shock Superchin.

The winner of Gurney/Baggish plays the winner of Snakebite Peter Wright and Canada’s Jeff Smith.  That should be a great game, Smith a BDO World Finalist and winner of the North American Championship last year is a dangerous player who often takes out big finishes. Snakebite will have to be on his A game to come through this match. Looking forward to this game too.

The tournament will be broadcast by ITV4 tonight from 7:45pm (GMT)
