Van Barneveld and Nicholson to feature in streamed Modus Icons of Darts Live League

Amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak and the darting calendar becoming decimated, Modus Darts have launched the Icons of Darts Live League to provide sporting spectators with their darts fix.

Both current and former professionals will feature in a round robin format over the next month from Monday-Saturday each week, with the inaugural staging being live streamed and updates occurring via the DartConnect system.

A series of round robin league phases will be played out over six days weekly in an attempt to supply darts fans with much-needed entertainment during these bleak, unprecedented times.

Modus Darts’ announcement comes following the PDC launching its weekly Darts at Home spectacle, as well as the Championship Darts Circuit in North America introducing its streamed showing.

Five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld headlines a star-studded field, with major champions Mark Webster and Paul Nicholson also emerging as stand-out names in amongst the participants.

The prodigiously-talented Dutchman, Wessel Nijman, also lines up alongside the aforementioned stars, while former PDC Challenge Tour event winner David Evans and World Championship semi-finalist Andy Jenkins finalise the initial field.

The tournament gets underway from 11am on the morning of Monday, April 6, with all matches being contested over a best of nine legs format.

Four weeks of streamed coverage will be provided, and available for viewing via various bookmakers websites. An eventual champion will subsequently be crowned on May 2.
