Van Gerwen joins Winmau in major move for World Number 1

World Number 1 Michael Van Gerwen has joined Winmau on a five year deal, as the manufacturer announce their newest major recruit.

Van Gerwen joins Winmau following eight years with XQ Max, who along with Vincent van Der Voort announced last month a parting of company.

The Dutchman has signed a product sponsorship deal with the darts manufacturing giant on what is believed to be a lucrative deal, although the numbers are unknown.

Three times World Champion Van Gerwen will be getting a new set of darts, a change from the same set he used throughout his time with XQ Mac which won him 54 televised titles.

The new set which MVG will be using are to be revealed in the coming weeks with retail sale of the product to be on the market shortly after its official unveiling.

On top of new darts, Mighty Mike will also sport a new shirt in 2020 with not too many surprises as he will still sport his trademark green top with black trimmings on the shoulders.

Van Gerwen’s move to Winmau comes just 24 hours after losing his World Championship title to Peter Wright in a 7-3 defeat in the final at Alexandra Palace.
