Webster and Cole secure titles as Modus Icons of Darts Live League resumes

Jarred Cole and Mark Webster secured Modus Icons of Darts Live League titles as Phase Four of the remotely contested initiative resumed.

Following a break in play to cater for the return of in-person darts last week in Milton Keynes, Phase Four returned on Monday with emerging youngster Jarred Cole claiming the spoils.

Cole topped the table with eight points and four victories to his name, above both Scott Marsh and Dave Parletti on leg difference.

Hertfordshire’s Cole opened his bid with his only defeat of the day at the hands of an impressive Dave Parletti – who averaged in excess of 97 and pinned two maximums.

Cole then got off the mark at the second time of asking with an emphatic whitewash win over Brazilian number one Diogo Portela, before edging past Adam Huckvale in another low-qualify affair.

The former PDC Development Tour event winner would then record an impressive 96.06 average in thrashing fellow youngster Keelan Kay, prior to narrowly denying Marsh 5-4 in his concluding clash.

In what would be a decisive match in the eventual outcome of the league, Cole averaged 98.01, pinned checkouts of 100 and 121 and converted five of his seven attempts on the outer ring in a scintillating showing.

Webster would subsequently join Cole in the Phase Four winners’ circle after the former world champion breezed to the title on Tuesday afternoon with five straight victories.

The Welshman defeated BDO World Championship quarter-finalist David Evans to get his campaign underway, before hitting five of his six attempts on the doubles in a 5-2 win over Ritchie Edhouse.

Newcomers John Brown and Stephen Burton were then brushed aside by Webster, before a 95.13 average handed the former Premier League participant his maiden Phase Four crown.

Phase Four of the Modus Icons of Darts Live League continues on both Wednesday and Thursday prior to another break taking place during the World Matchplay.
