World Matchplay 2019 Qualifiers Set
With Jamie Hughes winning the Czech Darts Open yesterday versus Stephen Bunting, he has qualified for the World Matchplay in July, knocking out James Wilson from contention.
The seeded players are:
- Rob Cross
- Daryl Gurney
- Gary Anderson
- Michael Smith
- Peter Wright
- Gerwyn Price
- James Wade
- Mensur Suljovic
- Ian White
- Simon Whitlock
- Dave Chisnall
- Nathan Aspinall
- Johnny Clayton
- Darren Webster
- Adrian Lewis
The other non seeded qualifiers include Ratajski, Evans, Durrant, Cullen, Beaton, Bunting, Wattimena, Hughes, De Zwann, Dobey, Noppert, Hopp, King, Henderson, Brown, Van de Voort.
The World Matchplay is unanimously the players favourite tournament as the atmosphere is great and the crowd are close by the stage.
It would be very difficult to pick a winner from this field. I don’t think MVG gets this title as he has been inconsistent this year and has been beat a lot more than usual, and I fear Gary Anderson won’t be able to keep up especially in the longer format, so that leaves it wide open.
For me I like Gerwyn Price and James Wade for this tournament. Price is really turning the crowds back on his side with spectacular darts, just look at the crowd reaction on his 9 dart winning leg against Glen Durrant at the Czech Open. With James Wade, he has won this before and is never ever out of a game, on a longer format he will grind you down.
For an outsider you could for for Ratajski or Glen Durrant.
Looking forward to the draw and schedule to be released this week.
